Rob Mackenzie is reportedly being pursued by Tottenham Hotspur for a position in their recruitment team, suggesting that the North London team is not satisfied with just acquiring Johan Lange from Aston Villa.

The appointment of Ange Postecoglou as manager in the summer was the first of many recent changes to the Tottenham hierarchy. The majority of the news at the moment is dominated by the Australian’s success thus far, as his team’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season has propelled them to the top of the table. However, a number of other new faces are working behind the scenes to steer the club in the right direction. Spurs have needed executives to step in after Fabio Paratici left earlier this year.

Johan Lange, who left his position at Aston Villa this week, is expected to take over as Tottenham’s technical director. Scott Munn joined the team as chief football officer last month.

Spurs once more want Rob Mackenzie.
Football Insider sources now claim that the Lilywhites are once more considering Aston Villa as a potential addition to their recruiting class. As the head of recruitment for Villa in the Midlands, Rob Mackenzie assisted Lange and is currently being pursued by Tottenham. In fact, Mackenzie had previously worked for the Spurs for eighteen months in 2015 and 2016. Tottenham, however, is eager to have him return and is hoping that bringing Mackenzie and Lange back together will bring about the same kind of transfer market success that Villa has experienced since the former joined the team.

Although Villa has made some questionable acquisitions in recent years, they generally do a great job of recruiting, which is why they are playing so well at the moment. It makes a lot of sense to get Mackenzie and Lange back together if that is possible.
