Leeds is very much in the running for automatic promotion as November draws near, even though they currently have a sizable gap between them and the top two.

Although Gretar Steinsson and the Leeds scouting team will already be watching the January window, outgoings are also a possibility.

Will Willy Gnonto leave?

TEAMtalk are reporting that Leeds are set to face significant interest in the January window for Willy Gnonto’s signature.

This comes following the Italian’s refusal to play in August and subsequent transfer request that sparked intense speculation around his future, as Everton pushed hard to convince Leeds of a sale, as the Whites’ stance never budged.

The Toffees are claimed to have “not wavered in their interest” in the player, while they are also joined by Italian outfits AS Roma and Lazio, with the former of the pair having already signed two Leeds players in the summer on loan – Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente.

It is said that a £25million outlay would potentially convince Leeds to sell the youngster, a fee that Leeds didn’t entertain in the summer.

Roma would be unable to finance such a deal mid-season, meanwhile Everton are in a financially perilous situation as the Premier League call for a 12-point deduction for their ongoing independent investigation into £317.8million losses.

Should Leeds sell Gnonto in January?

A January sale only happens if we get the fee that we want, and that is unlikely to be the case with any of the three clubs named here.

Gnonto and his agent can kick up a fuss all they want, but it’s not going to happen without absurd money bring thrown at him.

We are in a very strong position when it comes to fending these clubs off mid-season, but if the right fee is offered, then they should be receptive.

He’s not currently showcasing the quality befitting of the value he holds, and you have to question his commitment after what happened in the summer.
