In order to make sure they have the depth needed to contend for the championship, Tottenham is looking to bolster their roster during the January transfer window.

In an attempt to strengthen their roster during the January transfer window, Tottenham has received a significant boost in their pursuit of Victor Nelsson, a star player for Galatasaray. Throughout the summer, the defender was frequently linked to a transfer to the Premier League, but he was eventually turned down for the position.

Ange Postecoglou has completely transformed Spurs into an attacking-minded, free-flowing team that could contend for the Premier League title if they keep getting better. Spurs have had an incredible start to the season.

Tottenham will be looking to add quality players to their roster in January after winning eight of their first ten games of the season to make sure they have the depth to handle any injury issues later on. Postecoglou is eager to address his lack of defensive options as a result.

Nelsson is reportedly still at the top of Spurs’ shortlist in their pursuit of a defender to back up Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. Aksam claims that the centre back is still not part of Galatasaray’s plans and is “preparing to leave” during the January transfer window.

Earlier this summer, the 25-year-old publicly acknowledged that he could not see himself staying with the team past 2026 when he decided not to extend his contract. Nelsson hasn’t played for the club since Galatasaray decided to exclude him from their plans in response to his admission.

The Denmark international said: “I have had some talks with them (Galatasaray). I informed them after the last international break that I do not want to extend my contract. I have three years left on my contract and I just couldn’t see myself extending an extra year.”

Galatasaray are expected to entertain offers for their No 25 in January as a result, fearful of his value depreciating whilst he remains away from the first team. It is speculated that an offer in the region of £17million would test the resolve of the Istanbul side, though a bid of £13m would certainly prompt internal discussions.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs opt to act on their interest in the winter window or decide to target an alternative defender who could be signed in less complicated circumstances. Postecoglou is also expected to be in the market for a striker in January, with Gift Orban and Ivan Toney both being heavily considered.
