The news that Steven Fletcher, a striker, is the most recent player to be sidelined for an extended period of time has dealt Phil Parkinson yet another injury blow.

After joining Wrexham in September, former Scotland international Fletcher has made one start and nine substitute appearances in League Two, scoring two goals. However, the 36-year-old has been dealing with a knee issue and will need surgery.

According to Parkinson, Fletcher is scheduled for surgery today, and he won’t be able to predict how long the frontman will be sidelined until after the procedure.

“Steven has had a problem with his knee and the specialist has decided he needs an operation,” stated the manager of the Reds.

After three or four weeks, he simply overextended it and tried to move on, but sadly, it has gotten to the point where he is unable to continue, so he is undergoing surgery. We won’t know the extent of the time he is going to be out until the surgeon has performed the operation.
