Tottenham star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ‘looking for new adventure’, could leave in January with Juventus interested

In their attempt to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg of Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus has received encouragement.

The Danish international is “looking for a new adventure,” according to a report by the Italian website Calciomercato.com, and he may depart during the January transfer window. And for him, it makes sense.

Since joining Spurs, the former midfielder for Southampton and Bayern Munich has been a mainstay under every manager. Up until Ange Postecoglou, that is.

In what would have been an unthinkable scenario under Antonio Conte, Hojbjerg has been restricted to the bench. And that is in the long-term absence of Rodrigo Bentancur, who only recently returned from a long-term ACL injury.

Best to let him go

Hojbjerg, 28, had to wait for Yves Bissouma’s suspension to end before he could start in the Premier League game against Fulham, which they won 2-0. A player such as him gives the team a great deal of depth and quality.

But if he isn’t going to start, is it really worth keeping him here? Why not, if he is content in that role? Yet that is undoubtedly an uncommon occurrence. A player’s ability to perform at the highest level is not permanent.

Of all the players, Hojbjerg is in no way content to sit on the bench warmer. He might find a new spark in his career if he were to join Juventus, who have lost Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli due to different circumstances.

The Dane would have to adjust to a new environment and a new challenge at yet another massive European club. According to the previously mentioned report, Juventus wants to concentrate on acquiring a new midfield player in January.
