Huddersfield Town eliminated Albion from the FA Women’s National League Cup after Albion threw away an early lead. Albion took the lead thanks to a goal from Simran Jhamat in the first half, but the visitors responded with a four-goal burst, netting two goals after the break to take a commanding lead.
Albion lost in the round of 16 despite Jhamat’s second goal from the penalty spot with ten minutes remaining and Francesca Orthodoxou’s fourth goal to make it 4-3. Natasha Baptiste (two goals), Macy Fox, Sunya Salim, and a Britanee Lote hat-trick helped Lye Town cruise to a 7-0 victory at Knowle in the West Midlands Premier.
With five victories and one tie from their opening six league games, Lye’s victory maintains them atop the standings.
Lichfield City won 2-1 at Shifnal Town thanks to goals from Tiara Hemans and Shelbie Cartwright, earning them their first three points of the year. In other news, Kidderminster Harriers dropped points on the top two after losing 4-3 to Coventry Sphinx at home.
Kaz Clough scored a consolation goal on a challenging afternoon as Lichfield City Reserves lost 8-1 to Coventry City at home in Division One North.
Additionally, Walsall Wood, in fourth place, lost to second-place AFC Telford United, who kept their perfect record, 1-0 in a close game. In Division One South, Bewdley Town went to Alvechurch, who was leading the league, hoping for a shocking victory that would have lifted them above the relegation zone.
