Rangers had a thrilling evening in Tayside as they defeated Dundee 5-0 at Dens Park thanks to a strong offensive performance by Philippe Clement’s team.

The Ibrox team put on a commanding performance, scoring five goals thanks to goals from Ryan Jack, Danilo, Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers, and James Tavernier.

The Rangers team bus was delayed due to traffic in Dundee, so the game was postponed until 8.30 p.m. Referee Kevin Clancy called time on the match after just TWO minutes when departing Gers fans lit flares and detonated smokebombs, covering the pitch in a dense cloud of smoke.

The match was temporarily halted due to a fire alarm that was set off by the pyrotechnic display in the Bob Shankly Stand. But when play finally got back underway, the Light Blues won handily. The two delays before and during the game were acknowledged as “not ideal” by Belgian manager Clement, but he did not use them as an explanation for his team’s lacklustre performance in the first half. If you score five goals and have other chances as well, plus keeping a clean sheet because Jack (Butland) saved us a few times, then you are really happy after the game,” Clement said in a post-match interview with BBC Sportsound.

After our first half, I was not entirely satisfied. We were able to score the first goal and maintain a clean sheet, but our play was too sluggish and we lacked the drive to score the second. I was much happier with the second half, and players who had returned from injury, like Ryan Jack and Leon Balogun, had performed well. No, that’s not an excuse (delays), we need to be prepared for every circumstance,” he continued. Although it’s not ideal to arrive here at such a late hour and then need to return inside a short while later, that is never a valid justification.

The fact that we have to enter and disrupt our rhythm is not ideal. However, since we want to play football and maintain our rhythm, those things are better left undone. I’m not the person to advise fans on what to do.
