David Moyes now admits his future is in doubt at West Ham United.
After forcing their way back into the match at Brentford, the manager noticed how badly his team had lost and said he was sick to his stomach about having to leave southwest London as a loser against the Bees.
Throughout the second half, which was controlled by the home team and included grave mistakes from the Hammers defenders, his displeasure in the dug-out were evident. Given Alvarez’s absence, much of that may be attributed to their lack of a natural defensive midfielder in front of the back four, but there was much more to it than that. Beyond that, a lot of our previous issues with careless, poorly placed passes across the pitch persisted.
After the game, Moyes was in no mood to acknowledge anything but the truth. According to The Guardian, he said, in response to a question regarding rumours about his future, “I don’t think it’s unfair because the business we’re in means that if you go five games when you’ve not won, then you could always be under pressure-I totally get that.”
“Losing one hurts, and losing two hurts even more, let alone five. Football is that. I completely understand that, and I only wish the best for West Ham because, in my opinion, the team has performed admirably.
