Tuesday afternoon (K.O. 1pm) sees the Seasiders development squad host Bolton Wanderers at Bamber Bridge.

These games not only give the younger players a chance to show off, but they also give the senior squad members a chance to log crucial minutes.

After the FA Cup victory over Bromley 2-0, Neil Critchley spoke about his options at the time, saying, “We’re getting closer to getting some bodies back.”

“The players know they need to perform well to maintain their spot in the squad, and there is currently healthy competition among them. Our injured guys are probably a little too young for this week’s Central League game. Kyle (Joseph) and Jordan (Lawrence-Gabriel) haven’t really done a lot of team training.

They will require a little more time because of our current schedule, which has prevented us from doing a lot of training in between games. Both Matty Virtue and Norbs (Ollie Norburn) are getting closer to returning. Since Norbs has been gone for the shortest period of time, he is obviously much closer. Those players coming back will definitely give me a lot more headaches.

Next Saturday in League One, the Seasiders visit the Toughsheet Community Stadium (K.O. 3pm). Prior to those fixtures, Critchley acknowledges that he is happy to have a free midweek without any games involving the first team. It’s pleasant to possess that following our hectic schedule and travels,” he continued. Calming down a little bit will be beneficial for both physical and emotional recovery.
