The complete extent of Regan Poole’s and Tino Anjorin’s injuries sustained at Chesterfield won’t be known to Pompey until Wednesday at the latest.

Both players were taken out of the game at Proact Stadium during the first half, and they have been booked in for scans.

Poole, who injured his knee in the 11th minute of Sunday’s game, is still expected to play for the Blues, but Anjorin’s hamstring injury shortly before halftime appears to keep him out for six to eight weeks. As a result, the Chelsea star on loan could be sidelined until the new year, missing crucial matches while John Mousinho’s team focuses on winning League One.

Pompey has been cautious when it comes to the 21-year-old’s fitness since he arrived from Stamford Bridge in the late summer. Due to this, the midfielder has only made three starts in the league and has not yet played the full ninety minutes for the Blues.

For Pompey, Anjorin has started the last two matches. He now runs the risk of missing as many as ten games in the upcoming two months, including crucial encounters with teams like Charlton, Blackpool, Bolton, Bristol Rovers, and Stevenage.

“The two obvious injuries we picked up yesterday were Tino and Regan,” Mousinho said to The News, giving the most recent updates on Poole and Anjorin.

Regan is a little stiff this morning, but other than that, it’s far too early to say anything about either of them. Despite having a slightly swollen knee, he is ambulating without the aid of crutches, which is a very positive indication. On Wednesday, I believe he will have a scan.

In terms of a scan, “Tino is the same.” Simply put, it’s more evident what kind of injury he has. Tino has ripped his hamstring, but we won’t know all the details just yet. I’d guess we’ll be looking at six to eight weeks. However, it would be best for us to view the scan first before making any further decisions.

Although Poole no longer needs crutches to get around, his teammate does not have the same luxury. They’ll be necessary for him for a few more days, minimum. Mousinho believes the Chelsea loanee would be better off receiving the necessary care on the south coast as opposed to going back to his parent team for medical attention.

“I think that will be up to them (Chelsea), but our preference would probably be to keep him here,” the head coach continued. After the international break, you’ll have been here for three weeks, and I believe it would be better for him if he stayed. Honestly, it’s entirely Chelsea’s decision.

These athletes join Marlon Pack, Anthony Scully, Tom Lowery, and Connor Ogilvie on the list of injured players.
