Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel of Blackpool says a project away from football has helped him during his latest spell on the sidelines.

The 25-year-old has been out of action since the end of last season due to a serious knee injury, but has recently resumed full team training with the rest of the Seasiders squad.

In his spare time, the former Nottingham Forest defender devotes a significant amount of time to his clothing line, Velour, which he admits is beneficial. It’s been going for around two years,” he told me.

“A lot of orders come from Blackpool, whether from fans or players.”

“I’ve been distributing leaflets.”

“I’ve just opened a shop-type thing where people can book appointments to come look. It’s good that it’s finally moving and heading in the right direction. I’d say I have good fashion sense; some might disagree.

When I’ve been injured, it’s given me something to focus on. It’s challenging and fun- there are advantages and disadvantages to doing it, but it’s something I enjoy. I designed the website, the pictures, and everything else from the ground up. I’ve always thought I had a creative side. I wasn’t the brightest spark in school, so that always worked against me.”I’ll try anything once. I’m also taking a coaching course right now, and I work with the youth team here. I’m always looking at different things.
