Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Micky van de Ven appears to have suffered a’significant’ injury.

Micky van de Ven will be out for a long time after suffering an injury in Tottenham’s 4-1 loss to Chelsea.

That’s according to Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, who spoke to Football London after the game.

From disallowed goals to red cards and, sadly, a few injuries, this was one of the most bizarre games of football in recent Premier League history. Tottenham received the majority of those, losing Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie to red cards, while both James Maddison and Van de Ven were injured.

Ange Postecoglou weighs in on Micky van de Ven’s injury.
Tottenham had to play the majority of the second half with nine men, battling admirably before losing 4-1 after conceding three goals in the final 25 minutes. Spurs’ unbeaten streak has come to an end this season, but few expected it to end in this manner. The worst part isn’t even the defeat; it’s that some players will miss upcoming games due to suspension or injury. Van de Ven appears to be the big miss, as he left the game in the first half with a hamstring injury and was immediately hooked.

The Dutchman has been outstanding this season, but Postecoglou believes he will be out for some time.

Postecoglou told Football London that Van de Ven’s injury appears to be a ‘pretty significant one’ even at this early stage. With Micky, it’s a pretty significant one,” Postecoglou said.

Tottenham now has major defensive issues as a result of Van de Ven’s injury.
When Tottenham sold Davinson Sanchez to Galatasaray in September, they were always taking a risk at the back. Although the Colombian was not part of the long-term plans, his departure left Spurs with three senior centre backs – Romero, Van de Ven, and Eric Dier. Injuries or suspensions were always a possibility, and now both Romero and Van de Ven are out. That means Dier could be paired with Ben Davies at centre back, with Emerson Royal filling in for Udogie at left back.

Alfie Dorrington and Ashley Phillips are also options, but putting them in would be risky at this stage of their development.
