Following Wrexham AFC’s unbeaten October, Phil Parkinson and Elliot Lee have both been nominated for SkyBet League Two monthly awards.
After losing just once in September, we rebounded in October with five wins and two draws in all competitions, including four clean sheets. This despite playing five away games last month, including two against fellow top-four clubs. These results propelled us to third place in Sky Bet League Two, as well as to the second round of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
As a result, Parkinson has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month award, which is just reward for picking up 14 points and finishing the month with what Parkinson described as the best performance of his time with the Club, as we beat rivals Notts County.
The incredible form of Elliot Lee, who has picked up where he left off last season with some more match-winning contributions, was central to those results.
Lee scored a header in the 3-2 win over Salford City, came off the bench to volley in a dramatic last-gasp winner against Sutton United, and scored his tenth goal of the season to help us beat Notts County. Sky Bet said of his nomination, “In addition to his all-action style and energy in midfield, Lee scores game-changing goals.”
