When Blackpool travel to Wanderers this weekend, they could have the largest away crowd of the League One season so far.

Around 4,000 tickets have already been sold for the Seasiders’ trip to the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

They’re getting close to Carlisle’s figure of around 4,400, which came against the Whites last month as well. Neil Critchley’s side are eighth in the table, two points off the play-off places, as they look to recover from their relegation from the Championship last season.

Last weekend, Blackpool defeated Bromley 2-0 in the FA Cup first round, thanks to goals from Shayne Lavery and Karamoko Dembele.

Regardless of the outcome, Critchley warned his players that they needed to improve on their second-half performance against the non-league club. I have to say Bromley were excellent in the second half,” he said. We scored early and again before halftime, but it appeared that our bodies and minds were tired in the second half.

“Things might have been different if Bromley had scored.” We were just not ourselves in the second half.

“We’ve had a hectic schedule. We kept a clean sheet, but it was mostly due to good fortune and poor finishing. In the second half, we just seemed to stop playing.” I’m not sure if that’s a mentality issue, but it’s definitely something we need to work on. Blackpool have been boosted by the news that Oliver Cassey has signed a contract extension ahead of their trip to Bolton. The 22-year-old defender, who has made 16 appearances this season, will now stay at Bloomfield Road until at least June 2026, with the option to extend for another year.

“I am really happy to have gotten this done,” he said, according to the club’s website. “I’ve really enjoyed my football so far this season and am eager to push on.” Since joining the club two years ago, I believe my game has improved significantly.

“Any player wants to play regularly, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be involved a lot this season and last season at (on loan) Forest Green.” It has elevated my game to a new level, and I hope to continue progressing.

“I have loved every minute playing in tangerine and will continue to work hard for the club and the supporters week-on-week. The points were shared when the teams last met at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in October 2019, following a goalless draw.

Despite Kean Bryan scoring for the Whites, Blackpool went on to win 2-1 at Bloomfield Road a few months later.
