David Sullivan is set to hold talks with West Ham contract rebel Divin Mubama before Christmas in a bid to convince the 19-year-old to extend his deal, according to Claret & Hugh.

The West Ham news outlet shared on 11 November that the majority owner will speak to Mubama as a matter of urgency to convince him to remain in East London.

Mubama has been at West Ham since he was eight years old, but has become frustrated at the lack of game time he has been afforded this season under David Moyes.

Mubama has struggled for minutes under David Moyes this season and the recent reports in The Athletic [30 October] that contract negotiations have stalled has led to criticism of the boss.

West Ham won’t want to risk losing their prized academy product for free when his current contract expires at the end of the season, and a compromise should be met to ensure he remains at the London Stadium for his long-term future.

Given the struggles West Ham have faced in the striker department so far this season, with both Michail Antonio and especially Danny Ings disappointing, it is a surprise that Mubama hasn’t featured more for the Hammers.

The striker obviously wants minutes, having been given his first taste of first-team football last season when he bagged his first senior goal for the club in the Europa Conference League, but he has found game time hard to come by so far this time out.

This news has become the latest in a line of frustrating decisions under Moyes, after a report by Claret & Hugh on 30 October claimed the club are becoming fed up with the manager and he is edging closer to facing the sack at the London Stadium.
