Prior to their Premier League matchup against Tottenham, Aston Villa might have benefited early from the news that Jacob Ramsey is getting closer to joining the matchday squad.

On Monday afternoon, November 13, Birmingham Live shared that Ramsey might return to the starting lineup for the Villans on November 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After making his first appearance of the season in a 33-minute cameo by Emery against Brighton on September 30, the Villa Park marvel hasn’t been seen since. They won 6-1.

The fact that the Englishman participated in 35 of the 38 Premier League games played the previous season demonstrates how crucial he was to Emery’s team’s quick advancement under the Spanish manager.

Due in large part to his relentless energy and aggressiveness when trying to recover the ball, Ramsey had demonstrated a great deal of that last season, as shown by his 0.7 interceptions, 2.0 tackles, 0.5 possessions gained per game, and winning 51% of his ground duels [SofaScore].

Ramsey was in the top 20% of his peers for goals (0.21 per 90) and assists (0.18 per 90) in the Opta-powered FBREF stats from the previous season, suggesting that he was one of the Premier League’s most well-rounded midfielders.

His remarkable influence and decisiveness among his peers in Europe’s top five leagues are further highlighted by the fact that he impressively ranks in the 96th percentile for non-penalty goals per 90, 94th percentile for assists per 90, 94th for touches in the attacking penalty area per 90, and 96th percentile for progressive carries per 90.

Following in the footsteps of players like Bukayo Saka, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Marcus Rashford, the 22-year-old was rightfully awarded the 2022–23 Premier League Academy Graduate of the Year award on May 22. He demonstrated why he is the best of a very exciting crop of Premier League talent that has emerged this season.

Without perhaps their most valuable asset at Villa Park, Villa has undoubtedly experienced a remarkable upward trajectory. With 25 points out of a possible 36, they are currently in fifth place in the Premier League, just three points out of the top spot.

But that doesn’t mean Ramsey can’t join the team and help them become a stronger, more cohesive group going forward. This season, he has already scored once, in the 6-1 victory over Brighton, and he is undoubtedly preparing for more.

Ramsey has developed into a fully-fledged English top-flight star following his incredible Premier League exploits last season, where he recorded six goals and seven assists. Emery is undoubtedly extremely fortunate to have Ramsey in his squad at this time.

After the international break, should the Villans need his services against Tottenham, Emery won’t hesitate to bring him on to help Aston Villa secure three more crucial points. Everyone at Bodymoor Heath is relieved about this development because he is so decisive
