Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi said he received the all-clear from hospital doctors after suffering a serious head injury against Aberdeen on Sunday.
Aberdeen defender Slobodan Rubezic smacked Kyogo in the side of the head with his forehead. Some pundits called it dangerous and out of control, while Brendan Rodgers described it as “nasty” in the aftermath.
The Bhoys boss has already confirmed that Kyogo will not be travelling to Japan to join the squad. Fortunately, it appears that there will be no long-term consequences.
Kyogo keeps Celtic fans up to date on social media.
Kyogo said [Translated by Instagram] in a Japanese language Instagram Stories post: “I don’t know how many minutes, but I don’t remember any of my friends worrying about me or walking off the pitch by myself. When I was told I was fine in the hospital, I felt protected by the football gods.” I will continue to work hard for the future while remembering to be thankful.”
It’s not ideal that Kyogo doesn’t recall the immediate aftermath of the incident. It suggests he suffered a concussion, which are never predictable in terms of severity or recovery time.
Kyogo will now be closely monitored by Celtic’s medical staff, and he will not be allowed back on the training field or in games until he is fully recovered. When it comes to head injuries, you can never be too cautious.
Before being replaced, the Japanese sensation scored his eighth goal of the season, consolidating his position as the club’s top scorer in all competitions.
When he returns to the green and white hoops, he’ll be aiming for 20 goals and beyond. Kyogo, please get well soon
