The manager of the Italy national team, Luciano Spalletti, has disclosed that Destiny Udogie is not included in the team due to an injury.
Udogie’s exclusion from the Italy squad was the subject of much confusion earlier in the week, according to Tuttomercatoweb, but the decision’s rationale has now been made public. After being sent off in the London derby the previous week, Udogie was suspended for Saturday’s match against Wolves; however, at the time, there was no indication that the left-back had sustained any injuries.
For this reason, it was confusing when the Tottenham player was left off of Italy’s roster for their forthcoming Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Ukraine and North Macedonia.
During the international break last month, the 20-year-old earned his first two caps for the Azzurri and looked impressive in both games, receiving high praise for his performance at Wembley against England (BBC Sport).
Destiny Udogie is not included in the Italy rosters.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, a lot of people are baffled as to why Udogie was left out of Luciano Spalletti’s squad as well as the Italy Under-21 squad.
But now that SkyItalia has reported it, Spalletti himself has acknowledged another Tottenham injury issue. When someone asked him why there was no Udogie, he said, “Because he is injured.”

Udogie’s minor injury issue was always going to be the only plausible explanation for this. Before being declared fit for the Chelsea match, the left-back was a doubt. We sincerely hope that it is not a major problem because we need him back for the match against Aston Villa.
