Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has praised Joe Rodon as he continues to shine on loan at Leeds United.
Joe Rodon is a ‘terrific’ player who is now showing just how good he is whilst on loan at Leeds United.
That is the verdict of Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies, who has been speaking to Wales Online.
Tottenham decided to let a number of defenders leave in the summer with Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez moving on.
Rodon was let go too as he was sent on loan to Leeds United in the Championship, with Tottenham seeking £20million for a permanent move.
Ben Davies hails Tottenham-owned Joe Rodon
Rodon is now playing a key role for Leeds and has been praised in recent days.
The 26-year-old was named Man of the Match after a win over Plymouth Argyle over the weekend.
Leeds praised a ‘monster performance’ from Rodon and Tottenham ace Ben Davies has now moved to praise his Welsh international teammate.
Davies has told Wales Online that he thinks Rodon is a ‘terrific player’ who has now found himself a real home at Leeds.
Davies added that he is really happy to see Rodon enjoying his football at Leeds and loves that he is showing his quality at Elland Road.
“It is difficult,” said Davies. “Sometimes people forget how challenging it is going somewhere and then you have to move every nine months to a new place. But I think he really seems to have found himself a home at Leeds.”
“Joe is a terrific player. Every time I play with him with Wales he is very solid, good on the ball and I think we have a good understanding. To see him have success at Leeds, it really does make me happy.”
“Joe is one of my best mates in football, so we speak all the time. He is the type of player that, when he is at somewhere he is feeling valued and he is getting a good run of games, he is a really, really good defender and I think he is showing that right now,” he added.
Rodon unlikely to have Tottenham future
Davies may love Rodon but it’s now hard to see him having much of a future at Tottenham.
As noted earlier, Tottenham are seemingly willing to cash in for around £20million in 2024.
Tottenham are decimated defensively right now and may be looking to add another centre back come January.
However, Leeds boss Farke has told The Athletic’s Phil Hay that Rodon is staying at Elland Road for the full season and will not be returning to Spurs in January.
It looks like Rodon has played his final game for Tottenham, with a permanent move to Leeds looking more and more likely.
