According to reports, Nottingham Forest has experienced a setback with regard to the fitness of one of their summer signings who was forced to withdraw from international duty due to injury.

Injury updates for Nottingham Forest

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Gonzalo Montiel, and Felipe are currently out for the Midlands team due to personal issues, and last weekend, the team received yet another setback in regards to Murillo.

The center-back suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s 3-2 Premier League loss to West Ham, forcing him off the field after 76 minutes and being replaced by Willy Boly. Steve Cooper has since confirmed that he will get a scan, so the manager will have to wait anxiously to find out the outcome.

Anthony Elanga was one of the afternoon’s goal scorers at the London Stadium. However, the information that follows suggests that he may have sustained an unexplained injury while playing on the grass in the city.

The left-winger for the Reds signed a contract with the team this summer after leaving Manchester United. With 13 appearances to his credit, the 21-year-old has obviously impressed the manager (Transfermarkt – Elanga statistics). However, there’s a chance that he may now have to miss time.

Anthony Elanga leaves the Sweden team.

Manager Janne Andersson of Sweden says (via Fotbollskanalen and Sport Witness) that Elanga will not be playing for his country for the next two weeks because of an injury he sustained against David Moyes’ team.

He stated: “He got hurt during the game (against West Ham) for an unspecified reason. Although the club needs to let everyone know the current situation, his contribution during this international break was insufficient.

The immediate impact Anthony Elanga had at Forest
Journalist Josh Bunting praised Elanga as a “quality” addition for Evangelos Marinakis after he arrived at Nottingham Forest, so if he is indeed going to spend time in the treatment room, Cooper will suffer a serious setback. In just 13 appearances for the team, the Hyllie native has already made five contributions (three assists and two goals), demonstrating both his immediate positive influence on the action in the final third and his potential for prolific play.

The £25k-per-week earner (Nottingham Forest salaries) who is sponsored by Nike has also taken 17 shots this season, second only to Morgan Gibbs-White (FBRef – Nottingham Forest statistics), demonstrating his desire to score even when the results aren’t always there.

The sooner Elanga returns, the better, as he is a versatile player who has been used in five different positions throughout the pitch since the beginning of his career. These positions include three roles across the frontline, as well as left and right back, where he can use his pace to burst down the flank.
