Ollie Norburn, the captain of Blackpool, is questionable for this weekend’s League One matchup against Shrewsbury Town.
After missing several games due to a neck injury, the midfielder made his comeback last week in the 1-0 loss to Bolton Wanderers.
Regretfully, the skipper of the Seasiders may be absent on Saturday afternoon at Bloomfield Road once more.
Blackpool manager Neil Critchley said, “Norbs (Ollie Norburn) got a crack in his ribs in the first half against Bolton last week.”
“Despite appearing to stumble and fall, he managed to complete the game. After it, he’s been extremely sore. He’s been running around on the grass, and just like he did before the Bolton game, he’s eager to play. Running becomes challenging when you have a rib injury because breathing becomes difficult. We’ll need to give him a late call.
Shayne Lavery, a striker for Blackpool, is also sidelined for the next few weeks due to a hamstring injury.
It’s devastating for both of us, Critchley continued. During the preseason, he was amazing. Of course you want Shayne (Lavery) to fit in with the team. He had a great start, but injuries are a common occurrence in football.” We need to do everything in our power to support him while also looking for the best answers to hopefully prevent this from happening again. He’s been scoring three goals in his last four games, so when he’s hot, he can really hurt you.
“Shayne is the most disappointed person there is. He quickly grasped the situation and is aware of what is in front of him. As always, he has our complete support. The Seasiders defeated Morecambe 2-1 on Tuesday night in the EFL Trophy. Tayt Trusty suffered a serious injury during the game, and in the second half, the young player was stretchered off. It’s bad, Critchley clarified. He has fractured his leg, which is not good for a young player,” the player said. It’s truly regrettable. We’ll all provide him with all the assistance he requires.
