Spurs’ stellar start to the 2023–24 Premier League season has taken a turn for the worse as they have dropped their last two games prior to the November international break. The heap of wounds that have exacerbated their injuries hasn’t really helped anything. An update on their plans for the January transfer window is provided by Fabrizio Romano.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Upcoming Transfer Window Plans Made Public
Are Spurs Going To Spend Big In Winter Window?
Even though the Lilywhites’ defence currently has a few injuries, Romano has stated that they are not in a rush to sign more defenders during the January transfer window in order to potentially replace their first-choice options.
He adds that Tottenham is not going to panic despite being a little unlucky with all the injuries mounting up because they know the majority of their injured players will be back in action by the end of December.
Before deciding on any potential transfers, the Spurs management intends to evaluate the team’s circumstances at the end of the current season.
“Overall, I don’t see Tottenham spending crazy money in January, that’s not the plan at the moment,” Romano writes on his CaughtOffside blog, offering his personal opinion on what to expect from the Lilywhites in January.
“They’re happy with the balance in the squad right now, but they may look for opportunities towards the end of the January window because, of course, the recovery process of some key players will be important.”
Tottenham Is Dogged By Dangerous Injuries
After a strong start to the season, Ange Postecoglou has had the great misfortune of witnessing some of his team’s best players suffer injuries. James Maddison, the team’s star summer acquisition, revealed that he will be sidelined until the end of the season because of an ankle injury.
Micky van de Ven, the centre back, is also anticipated to miss the remainder of 2023’s games due to a hamstring injury he sustained in the Chelsea defeat.
In addition, Richarlison will be sidelined for an extended period of time due to surgery required to address an issue. Despite all of these setbacks, Spurs don’t appear to be in a panic just yet, and they haven’t properly planned out what kind of investments they might make in the next transfer window.
