For a short while, Ryan Reynolds abandoned football in favour of Formula One, and the co-owner of Wrexham was taken aback by Esteban Ocon’s “Deadpool” helmet design.
AHEAD OF TIME?
The famous actor Reynolds has teamed up with Rob McElhenney, another co-chairman of Wrexham, and Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners to purchase a twenty-four percent share in the Alpine F1 team. Since then, celebrities like golfer Rory McIlroy and Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold have invested with them.
THE LARGER IMAGE
Ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Reynolds has been able to experience life on the racing circuit. Alpine racer Ocon, who has been showcasing the headgear he will be wearing in Sin City, has been rubbing elbows with him.
WHAT IT SAYS
Reynolds acknowledges that “things escalated from 0 to Oh-My-God-This-Is-Real in 1.4 seconds” when he met up with highly regarded French racer Ocon, despite not having been granted a ride around the Nevada circuit.
Next what?
Reynolds has become accustomed to sports interfering with his feelings, having had a memorable reign at Welsh team Wrexham. The previous season saw them secure promotion in record-breaking fashion, with plenty of drama leading up to the implementation of an all-expenses-paid trip to Vegas. This season has brought more thrills and spills to StoK Racecourse.
