Having only gained one point from their previous three league games, Neil Critchley’s team will be looking to improve over the next few weeks in order to get into the play-off positions.

They were defeated 1-0 by Bolton at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in their most recent League One match.

This is our Seasiders XI prediction for Shrewsbury’s visit:

1. Who will start for Blackpool?

We’ve named our predicted Seasiders XI for the game against Shrewsbury.

2. GK: Dan Grimshaw

Dan Grimshaw remains Blackpool’s number one in the league. He’s enjoyed a solid enough season so far, and has kept six clean sheets.

3. CB: Matthew Pennington

Matthew Pennington is set to face his former club this weekend. The 29-year-old left Shrewsbury during the summer after spending two seasons with the club.

4. CB: Olly Casey

Olly Casey returned from suspension to captain the Seasiders in the midweek EFL Trophy win over Morecambe. He quickly rediscovered his form and looked commanding from the back.

5. CB: James Husband

James Husband has been a key man for the Seasiders so far this season. His experience will be crucial for Neil Critchley’s side if they hope to push for the play-offs this season.

6. RWB: CJ Hamilton

CJ Hamilton can be a major threat for the Seasiders when he’s on it. He already produced a number of excellent displays this season, but there’s also been a few frustrating occasions as well.

7. CM: Kenny Dougall

Kenny Dougall missed the defeat to Bolton through suspension, but should return this weekend. The Australian has enjoyed a strong campaign so far for the Seasiders.

8. SUB: Albie Morgan

Albie Morgan was in the starting line-up in the 1-0 defeat to Bolton, and could keep his place- especially with the potential absence of Ollie Norburn due to a problem with his ribs.

9. LWB: Owen Dale

Owen Dale started on the bench in last week’s trip to Bolton, but could return to the starting XI for the visit of Shrewsbury.

10. CAM: Karamoko Dembele

Karamoko Dembele started the game against Bolton last week. Following an exciting few weeks from the 20-year-old, hopefully he can keep his spot in the starting 11 and start in a more advanced midfield role- just behind a front two.

11. ST: Jordan Rhodes

Jordan Rhodes has enjoyed an excellent season for the Seasiders so far this season. The on loan striker has bagged nine goal, and has been crucial up front for Critchley’s side.

12. ST: Kylian Kouassi

After being named on the bench against Bolton, Kylian Kouassi could return to the starting line-up. Since breaking into the team, the striker has proven to be a real threat up front for the Seasiders.

13. SUB: Richard O’Donnell

Richard O’Donnell was in-between the sticks for the midweek EFL Trophy tie against Morecambe. The keeper will most likely retake his position on the bench for the Seasiders’ return to league action.

14. SUB: Marvin Ekpiteta

Marvin Ekpiteta has started the last few league games but could return to the bench following the return of Olly Casey.

15. SUB: Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel

Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel made his return from injury in the EFL Trophy game against Morecambe. The wing-back played 45 minutes as part of his recovery from a lengthy knee injury.

16. SUB: Sonny Carey

Sonny Carey has started pretty regularly in the last few weeks, but could return to the bench for this one.

17. SUB: Jensen Weir

Jensen Weir started the EFL Trophy game against Morecambe, and could be a good option off the bench this weekend.

18. SUB: Jake Beesley

Jake Beesley’s brace in the EFL Trophy game against Morecambe could’ve helped the striker to force his way onto the bench for the visit of Shrewsbury to Bloomfield Road.

19. SUB: Kyle Joseph

Kyle Joseph made his return from injury in the defeat to Bolton last week. After featuring from the bench at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, it could be a similar story on Saturday as he continues to rebuild his match fitness.
