Although Wrexham is making progress in their promotion campaign, they cannot afford to take a break in January.
As things stand right now, Wrexham is ranked second in League Two. Even though Phil Parkinson’s team has only lost twice, the Red Dragons are still five points behind the division leaders due to Stockport County’s incredible winning streak.

The North Wales team has strong support, as everyone is aware, and even though they are playing well, they ought to seize the opportunity to bolster their roster during the January transfer window.

Charlie Kirk is a potential target that Wrexham ought to take into account, should targets already be established.

In need of modification
This season, Kirk has had few opportunities following a difficult period at Charlton Athletic. After a standout season with Crewe Alexandra, he signed with the Addicks, but manager Michael Appleton has now admitted the player probably needs a change of scenery come January.

Here’s where Wrexham can be useful.

It’s important to acknowledge that Kirk is inherently a winger. Parkinson almost always lineups his team with wing-backs in a 3-5-2 formation. That has also been quite successful, but as Wrexham develops, it is imperative that they begin to assemble a team that can execute a backup plan.

Kirk’s move would be the first step towards that. Parkinson and Wrexham would be free to use a front three with natural wingers, which would be very beneficial when they’re trying to rally for a point or haven’t been able to penetrate a strong defence. Even so, Kirk might be able to pick up the position on his own with the correct guidance given the League Two team’s excellent wing-back play.

While there are other players who can play left wing-back, Wrexham’s standout player is Jacob Mendy. However, the team lacks natural wingers. Kirk’s transfer would provide them just that, giving the team a fresh threat and some tactical adaptability in addition to bringing
