Steven Davis, a midfielder for the Rangers, may never play a professional match at Ibrox again, according to a situation update provided by the BBC.

Due to a recent knee injury, the British broadcaster reported on Friday, November 17 that his playing future is still uncertain.

The 38-year-old is currently receiving treatment, and it’s highly likely that he won’t play a competitive game again.

After Michael Beale was fired, he recently served as the team’s acting coach, and it appears that this is where his career is headed—into coaching.

Football players in their late 30s may find it difficult to heal from knee injuries as they get older because the body’s natural capacity for regeneration slows down with age. A lengthy career’s worth of joint wear and tear can cause ligament, cartilage, and tendon damage that accumulates and complicates recovery.

Furthermore, older players’ decreased muscle mass and flexibility make them less able to stabilise and support the knee joint during rehabilitation.
