The Tottenham forward Son Heung-min claims he is “fine now” despite having a scare during the international break.

On Sunday, November 26, Spurs, who have lost their past two games due to an injury crisis, will host Aston Villa. And when Son appeared to have taken a knock during South Korea’s 5-0 victory over Singapore, there would have been a lot of worry.

The 31-year-old went down during the second half, appeared uneasy while receiving medical attention, and hobbled to the side of the pitch while clutching his right ankle.

When he spoke to the media following the game, he downplayed any concerns about his fitness.

“I am fine now, I don’t like to lie down for a long time [on the pitch],” said the player. He reportedly said, “At that moment [I went down], I couldn’t feel anything on my foot,” according to South Korean journalist Sungmo Lee. “It’s not only me, all players have small injuries but still play for the team.”

“We are building a squad for the World Cup, and I can’t give up a game just because I’m hurt,” he continued. I can’t do anything about it if I’m unable to run any longer, but when I can, I have to give the team my all.”

After eight goals in twelve games, Spurs will be eager to have their winger available against Villa.
