Following the international break, Leeds United will travel to Rotherham United in their first game back.

Once they get to South Yorkshire, the Whites—who had already defeated Huddersfield Town, Leicester City, and Plymouth Argyle—will be hoping to make it four straight Championship victories.

With the game on Friday, Daniel Farke will have to make some difficult decisions regarding his starting lineup as he welcomes back injured players and manages a quick turnaround from international matches.

Rotherham, on the other hand, will be playing their first match since Matt Taylor left as manager earlier this week. Here’s a sneak peek at our anticipated Leeds starting lineup for the match.

The goalkeeper
Illan Meslier, one of those not serving overseas, keeps going towards the objective.

defence

Although it seems unlikely that Djed Spence will be thrown in right away, it is possible that he will make his first appearance back in the starting lineup since his knee injury. Archie Grey is selected to start at right back, assuming he survives the England U19s’ games.

Junior Firpo, who returned from the bench the previous game, starts for the first time this season because Sam Byram is anticipated to miss the game.

After his hernia surgery, Pascal Struijk’s recovery may not be as clear-cut, but Farke won’t want to push him back too soon. Thus, Liam Cooper and Joe Rodon maintain their position, assuming they return fit from international competition.

Midfield

All of Leeds’ midfield options are away with their respective nations but Ethan Ampadu and Glen Kamara appear likely to continue their partnership.

Attack

Crysencio Summerville and Joel Piroe will be fresh and ready for the game having not been selected to represent Netherlands.

Dan James and Georginio Rutter are likely to make up the remainder of the front four for the third match in a row, again providing there are no injury concerns following international duty.

Predicted XI: Meslier; Gray, Rodon, Cooper, Firpo; Ampadu, Kamara; James, Piroe, Summerville; Rutter
