After he was likened to France great Franck Ribery, Leeds United is hoping to add a quick forward during the January transfer window.
Leeds has had a bright start under Farke.
Leeds appears to be a fairly safe contender for promotion back to the Premier League, suggesting that the decision to appoint former Norwich City manager Daniel Farke in July may have been the right one.
Before the international break, Leeds was playing well, even though the Whites have lost seven Championship games this year.
With four straight victories in the league, Farke’s team was beginning to gather significant momentum. Leeds is the clear favourite to win both of their upcoming games at Elland Road: they take on struggling Rotherham United and Swansea City.
Last month, pundit Chris Sutton predicted Leeds would get promoted right away on Monday Night Club (via Leeds Live), saying he thought Farke was the right man.
“He’s not a replacement that is exactly like the original. Clearly, he oversaw Norwich City and helped them win a few promotions out of the Championship, but he had trouble in the Premier League, according to Sutton.
“I don’t believe it was entirely his fault; the team wasn’t good enough. He definitely fits Leeds fans’ desire for an attacking style of football.
He’s got a lot on his plate; there’s been a significant turnover of players, and I think the desire of Leeds supporters to discover the next Bielsa is his biggest problem. Because of his expertise in the Championship, his cunning and know-how, and the way he arranges his teams, I genuinely believe he will lead them this season. Me
But as the January transfer window draws near, Leeds is rumoured to be hatching plans to support and bolster Farke’s promotion to the premier league.
Leeds vision Ryan Kent loan agreement
In fact, it’s said that club executives are considering a move for Ryan Kent, a former Rangers star and winger for Fenerbahce.
The 27-year-old has struggled under manager Ismail Kartal, who doesn’t seem to favour him, since choosing to join the Turkish Super Lig after leaving Ibrox on a free transfer.
This season, Kent has only made seven appearances in the league, and only one of those appearances was a start. Fenerbahce appears willing to allow him to depart on a temporary contract in January as a result.
This is where Farke’s team steps in, as TEAMtalk reports that Leeds is reportedly interested in mid-season signing Kent.
Former Gers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has commended Kent in the past for his “incredible” speed, and Owen Hargreaves once told TNT Sports that he can be similar to Franck Ribery.
“I adore observing Ryan Kent; his technical prowess is astounding. Hargreaves remarked of the winger following a previous performance against Borussia Dortmund, “It looked like Franck Ribery when he used to do it for Bayern” (via Liverpool Echo).
“His best quality is his ability to run at players, even when he has the ball at his feet.” There, he stunned everyone. Dortmund won’t know much about him, but they’ll be curious to find out in the locker room. Clubs in the Premier League will be considering him.” He gave Dortmund a great deal of trouble.
