Celtic defeated Aberdeen 6-0 last weekend to extend their winning streak in the Scottish Premiership. Rangers defeated Livingston as well, but the eight-point difference between the two Glasgow teams remains at the top of the table.

The January transfer window may have a significant impact on both teams’ performances in the upcoming season, and the Gers have some ground to make up if they hope to put pressure on Celtic.

With the close of 2023 drawing near, we’ve compiled some of the most recent Celtic and Rangers transfer news.

Rangers overtake Man City for midfielder

Noah Mbamba of Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly ‘ahead’ of Manchester City in Rangers’ January pursuit of him. With their sights set on challenging Celtic for the league this year, the Gers are prepared to support their new manager, Philippe Clement, with a January transfer.

Rangers have an opportunity because Man City is now ‘unlikely’ to approach Mbamba this winter and may prefer a summer transfer, according to TEAMtalk. According to reports, a loan agreement that lasts until the end of the season is the most likely. This would help the Gers and give the 18-year-old regular playing time.

Mbamba is currently a well-liked rising star who is reportedly being pursued by several elite clubs. Although his trade is midfield, he has played centre back this season.

Celtic and Rangers battle for same target

Motherwell starlet Lennon Miller is connected to both Celtic and Rangers, according to a different TEAMtalk report. One of Scotland’s most promising young players, the 17-year-old is drawing a lot of attention even though he just signed a new contract.

English clubs, in addition to Motherwell’s league rivals, are monitoring Miller. Reports state that West Ham, Brentford, Brighton, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa are all monitoring the rising talent. This kind of interest raises a lot of questions for him about the future and where he thinks there will be the most room to grow.
