Willy Gnonto scored again over the weekend, leading Italy U21 to a 7-0 victory over San Marino. However, a video of the match’s highlights appears to show the Leeds United attacker holding his hamstring.

This season, Gnonto, 19, has had difficulty getting into the Elland Road lineup. Before an injury against Hull slowed our progress in August, the Italy star declined to play for us. Out of our last ten league games, he has started one.

The future of the Italian is also uncertain. According to Calcio Style, Lazio is keen to get Gnonto back to Italy and is working on a loan agreement that would obligate them to pay £13 million for his acquisition the following summer. Sounds cheesy.

Gnonto scored twice for Italy’s 21s last Thursday as they easily defeated San Marino. The Leeds star was excellent and took home a penalty. He was deemed the best player on the pitch that evening by the Italian media.

The highlights have since been featured in a video posted by Italy’s official account. Gnonto, who received the armband that evening, was observed clutching his hamstring at 1:37. Leeds is concerned ahead of Friday.

While serving in Italy, Leeds attacker Gnonto was seen holding his hamstring.
The interesting thing to watch will be if Gnonto plays when Italy plays Ireland’s U21 team away on Tuesday night. After the game, the Leeds teen will, at the very least, have a short trip home.

He may not be involved, though. He won’t be involved at all and might even be back at Thorp Arch if he has developed a minor hamstring strain or even a pull. Undoubtedly worth observing on Tuesday evening.

Even though Gnonto isn’t starting games right now, Leeds will still need him healthy for the hectic Christmas season because of his exceptional talent. Dan James and Cree Summerville are dynamic duos.
