This weekend, a current Blackpool player will be visiting Portsmouth again, but this time as an opponent.
Forward Owen Dale of Blackpool has thought back on his time at Portsmouth before this weekend’s trip back to Fratton Park.
Dale is making a strong push to play against the team he was a part of last season. The 25-year-old was loaned to Pompey for the entire 2022–2023 season while the Tangerines fought for survival in the Champion
Although he didn’t play in 50 games the previous season and didn’t help them achieve their promotion goal, he came back to Bloomfield Road with a smile on his face. He will now be planning their demise in an attempt to help John Mousinho’s team suffer their first league loss of the season.
Despite not playing in 50 games the previous campaign and failing to help them reach their promotion target, he returned to Bloomfield Road beaming. He will now be plotting their downfall in an effort to cause John Mousinho’s team to lose in the league for the first time this year.
They and we both have a lot of quality, so we won’t be afraid or doubtful when we go there. We’ll go there, try to win it, and leave our mark on the game.
Blackpool enters the match fresh off a 4-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town. Jake Beesley took advantage of Kylian Kouassi and Shayne Lavery’s injury absences by coming out of the cold and scoring a brace.
They lost to Barnsley on goal differential, but the Tykes and the teams above them still have games in hand. They finished outside the top six.
This weekend’s victory on the South Coast would be a declaration of intent and narrow the point differential between them and the leaders to just six.
Thinking back on the victory over Shrewsbury and anticipating this coming weekend, Dale stated: “We put on a fantastic performance that will help us carry our momentum into Portsmouth.
“We want to be the ones to end their winning streak because they are undefeated. We must win those crucial games that rank in the top six or seven if we are to fulfil the goals we have set for ourselves this season. We’ll be trying to win those games because that’s what we want to do.
