When one of their young players returns from their summer loan at Robbie Savage’s team, Blackpool will have to make a decision.

Luke Mariette is now able to sign a season-long loan with non-league Macclesfield thanks to Blackpool.

The Tangerines have the option to recall him at any time should they so choose, but the move is contingent upon approval from the Football Association and the English Football League and will last for the duration of the season.

In the Bristol Street Motors Trophy group stage this season, he has participated in two of Blackpool’s three games. This season, Mariette also played for Southport, a National League North team, making two appearances.

Blackpool announced his temporary departure with a brief statement that read, “The Club wishes Luke well for the remainder of the season.”

In the summer of 2021, Mariette committed to a professional contract with Blackpool. She has also played youth international football for Wales. TransferMarkt reports that his contract with Blackpool is set to expire in the summer of 2024, and his loan at Macclesfield may play a role in determining his long-term plans.

He might make his premiere tonight, according to Mariette. At Moss Rose tonight, the Silkmen take on Atherton Collieries in a league match. On Saturday, November 25, Macclesfield plays Guiseley at home if the paperwork is not processed in a timely manner.

He joins a team that is currently ranked fifth in the seventh division of English football, the Northern Premier Division. Alex Bruce, a former defender for Hull City and Ipswich Town, was named manager at the end of October. Bruce is assisted by former Sunderland and Manchester United defender Phil Bardsley as assistant coach, and Robbie Savage serves as director of football above him.

Despite being 15 points lagging behind league leaders Radcliffe Borough, Macclesfield is still in the play-off spots due to goal differential.
