The most recent information regarding Blackpool’s injury situation before their Saturday EFL League One matchup at Fratton Park against Portsmouth.
Before Blackpool’s EFL League One match against Portsmouth this weekend, Neil Critchley has disclosed that a number of players could make a comeback for the club.
At Fratton Park, the Tangerines take on league leaders Pompey in what promises to be their hardest test yet. This season, John Mousinho’s team hasn’t lost in the league, but Critchley may have a number of players available for selection.
Kylian Kouassi and Shayne Lavery, both strikers, are the only players who have been officially ruled out of contention. After missing two games, club captain Ollie Norburn may make a comeback, and Virtue, who has been out for two months due to a hamstring injury, may also be given consideration.
Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel, a right-back, played a full 60 minutes for the development squad against Sunderland this week, capping off a 45-minute cameo against Morecambe in the EFL Trophy. Even though he might not be selected for the weekend, he is still making strides towards joining the league.
Shayne and Kylian are going to be out for a number of weeks due to their injuries, but other than that pretty much everyone else is back training,” Critchley stated in reference to the injury situation.
“Jordan Gabriel played in a development game at Sunderland on Tuesday, getting 60–65 minutes, and he did well, so that’s another step forward for him. Matty Virtue is also training.
Ollie Norburn has done some work on the grass and is eager to participate this weekend. He’s not off the table just yet. With the exception of Shayne and Kylian, all others should be able to compete for the team.
Jordan Rhodes was ‘touch and go’ for the victory over Shrewsbury Town last week. The forward did appear in the game, playing 68 minutes and scoring a penalty kick against the Shrews. The striker for Huddersfield Town, who is on loan, has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 14 games this season. Despite being available, he might not be fully fit for Saturday.
Regarding Rhodes, Critchley remarked, “I wouldn’t say that he’s 100%.”
He’s improved since last Saturday; in that game, he was incredibly touch-and-go. We’ve taken care of and managed him a little bit this week, but by Saturday, I expect Jordan to be putting himself forward and feeling okay once more.
