Jordan Tunnicliffe of Wrexham has experienced an injury setback, which has made Phil Parkinson’s preparations for their matchup with Morecambe even more difficult.
Consequently, what happened?
Despite making a comeback in the team’s 2-0 victory over Gillingham 11 days ago, the center-back has been dealing with back problems. As a result, he was not in the starting lineup against Accrington. Parkinson would have been hoping to see Tunnicliffe return to the starting lineup given the team’s numerous injuries, but his comeback was fleeting. Tom O’Connor was added to the list of injuries, as confirmed by Parkinson, after he was hit over the weekend.
PARKINSON’S MENTION
Parkinson stated, “Jordan is struggling, unfortunately” [via The Leader]. “Jordan will be out for a while as we believe his back is the source of his hamstring issue. I’m not exactly sure what that is yet. Jordan is going through a lot, but sadly, there is nothing we can do about it. All we need to do is work on getting him back into shape so that, hopefully, we can keep him out on the training pitch.”
THE LARGER IMAGE
After being promoted to League Two the previous season, the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned team is currently riding high. But, as the Red Dragons lost to Accrington Stanley last weekend, Parkinson thinks injuries and international call-ups are beginning to catch up with the team. Even though they are currently fourth in the league, they could fall as low as seventh if they lose to Morecambe.
WREXHAM’S FUTURE STATE?
In an attempt to reclaim second place in the league, the Red Dragons will play their next game on Saturday, November 25, against Morecambe.
