In response to the interest expressed in Rangers attacker Ross McCausland prior to January, Barry Ferguson has sent a message to the board.

The former Gers player stated in his Daily Record column on November 24 that he thinks the Belgian wants the 20-year-old to sign a new contract at Ibrox.

The Northern Ireland international hasn’t indicated thus far that he would decline offers from other teams to stay longer, but Brentford has recently expressed interest.

“People like to accuse football players of ‘chasing the coin,’ but I can’t stand that phrase,” Ferguson wrote. It is their duty as professionals to act in the best interests of their careers.

And for that reason, McCausland would be better served by hanging around for the time being and making over 100 appearances while wearing a Rangers uniform before considering his options.

Philippe Clement has expressed his desire for the young player to sign a new contract, even though he may play it cool in front of the cameras. I wouldn’t want to disappoint the manager if I were a member of the Rangers board!

Hold him.

Retaining McCausland at Rangers is essential to the team’s long-term success because of his potential to become a future superstar.

The young attacker from Northern Ireland has already shown off his skills by making important plays in the field.

His £60,000 transfer from Linfield to the Rangers Academy in 2019 highlights both the club’s early faith in him and his early promise.

Fans and football analysts alike have taken notice of the 20-year-old’s adaptability, skill, and poise on the pitch. Ferguson, a Rangers legend, is aware of the importance of developing and keeping homegrown talent.

Ferguson’s insistence that the Rangers board go to any lengths to retain McCausland is evidence of both the player’s extraordinary talent and the potential influence he could have on the team’s future accomplishments.

In a game where young players are highly prized, the Gers must protect McCausland’s future in order to develop a homegrown star who can make a significant contribution to the club’s history in addition to achieving immediate success.
