Tottenham lost to Aston Villa earlier today for the third time in a row in the league.

Spurs’ season is collapsing after a fantastic start in which they won eight of their ten games, drew two, and went undefeated in the first ten.

As they say, “When it rains, it pours,” and Tottenham is experiencing that at the moment. Since the Chelsea games, nothing has been going their way.

Bentancur is the most recent player to sustain an injury on his first start since February, adding to their growing list of ailments.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg had to replace the Uruguayan after a reckless tackle by Matty Cash rendered him unable to continue.

The injury setback is the latest in a long line of bad news for the team, which also includes James Maddison and Micky van de Ven’s indefinite absences that will last until 2024.

After the game, Tottenham’s manager bemoaned the club’s injury crisis, which currently has nine players out of commission, and voiced his frustration over Bentancur’s injury, criticising Cash’s tackle.

Concerning the Bentancur injury, Ange responded as follows (per The Standard):

I’m not sure. It’s probably his ankle. It was a mediocre tackle. I thought he did a great job starting the game.

We really don’t need any more injuries. Bentancur has nine injured players, compared to our eight. Ashley Phillips passed away during the week as well. It’s just the circumstances we find ourselves in right now.

Tottenham gave a fantastic performance even though they lost. With numerous opportunities created by both teams, the score does not accurately represent the games. especially Tottenham, who saw Emiliano Martinez make a string of incredible saves to deny them despite missing three clear opportunities and having several goals disallowed.

Due to the loss, Villa moved up to fourth place in the league standings, two points ahead of them.
