Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool are interested in midfielder Douglas Luiz, but Aston Villa is adamant they will not entertain offers for him in January, 90min understands.

Arsenal made three unsuccessful attempts to sign Luiz in 2022, but they kept an eye on the Brazil international instead. Under Unai Emery, Luiz has flourished this season, helping Villa solidify their place among the top four contenders.

90min has now received confirmation from sources that Man City is interested in Luiz, a player who was signed for two years at the Etihad Stadium but never saw action for the team.

Luiz was acquired by City from Vasco da Gama in 2017 and was loaned to partner team Girona for two years before being permanently sold to Villa for an estimated £15 million.

If Luiz decides to leave Villa, Liverpool has also stated that they would be open to pursuing him; however, they have not been informed that a transfer is imminent.

He is playing really well. After Villa’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, manager Unai Emery said, “He’s improved a lot, his commitment is amazing.” “I want to keep him because I am really happy with him. I believe he is content with us.

“He’s making his debut for his country’s squad. And he gave an incredible performance today. I desire him.

Luiz is not for sale, and any January offers for the Brazil international will not be entertained, Villa has made it clear to all potential buyers.

Luiz, who has played in the Premier League for Villa more than 150 times, has contributed two assists and five goals so far this season as the Villans have surged up to fourth place with 28 points after 13 games.

In response to Arsenal’s initial pursuit, the midfielder signed a new four-year contract in 2022. He is currently contracted at Villa Park until 2026, so club officials are not under much pressure to consider offers.

Given that Villa is one of the favourites to win the Europa Conference League this year, Luiz is known to be eager to lead the team into the Champions League and to win some hardware.
