The Rangers midfielder lost out on a fantastic opportunity to catch up to league leaders Celtic by dropping points against his old team, Aberdeen.

Ryan Jack’s comeback against Aris Limassol, according to Philippe Clement, is “on the edge.”

After David Turnbull scored from the penalty spot four minutes earlier in what appeared to be the game-winning moment after Liam Kelly had earlier denied Luis Palma from 12 yards, Brendan Rodgers’ team dropped rare points at home to Motherwell. The Rangers midfielder was not present against his former club Aberdeen, and the Light Blues missed a fantastic opportunity to close the gap on leaders Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

After VAR determined that Connor Goldson had been pulled back in the Aberdeen box, James Tavernier’s penalty kick in the 94th minute salvaged a point. The visitors had numerous opportunities and frequently struck the woodwork, and Kelle Roos was playing at her best. At Pittodrie, Bojan Miovski gave the home team an early lead, and Jack Butland was also involved. This indicates that, despite playing one fewer game, the lead in the league championship race is still eight points.

The Europa League action takes centre stage on Thursday night, and the fixtures come thick and fast. Aris Limasol, the group minnows, travels to Ibrox for a fight in the dark while Clement and company try to secure a spot in the knockout round. The Rangers manager acknowledges that he is uncertain about Jack’s recovery time because the midweek match appears to be close.

“We don’t know [how long Ryan will be out] yet,” he stated. I don’t think it will last long—rather, it will only last a short while—but I’m not sure if he will be prepared for Thursday night. It will, in my opinion, be tense.

In the 1-1 draw in Granite City, Jose Cifuentes made his first start under Clement’s leadership. Since Nico Raskin is still a serious doubt, the midfield player might be called upon to play again. After playing the entire 90 minutes at Aberdeen, the Belgian praised his efforts and called him a “different type” than his teammate.

“He’s a different type than Ryan, but he played well,” he continued. Undoubtedly, recovering from an injury in a fast-paced game against a skilled opponent is not an easy task. It’s encouraging and a testament to Jose and the medical team’s work over the past few weeks. He played for ninety minutes in a game of this calibre because of his excellent training.
