After Morcecambe’s 6-0 loss over the weekend, the 35-year-old heavyweight boxer has taken aim at the Hollywood actor and co-owner of Wrexham.
Ryan Reynolds, a co-owner of Wrexham FC, has received a boxing challenge from Tyson Fury.
It comes after Wrexham defeated Morecambe, the seaside town where Fury lives, 6-0 over the weekend in League Two. Joel Senior’s own goal gave Wrexham the lead. Paul Mullin scored a hat-trick, and other goals came from Jacob Mendy and James Jones.
Wrexham’s return to the English Football League (EFL) has gone incredibly well since their confirmation from the fifth division of the league last season. After 19 games, Phil Parkinson’s team is presently ranked second; Morecambe is now down in 12th place as a result of the crushing loss.
After his hometown team’s loss, Fury posted a spoof picture of himself taking on Ryan Reynolds’ well-known character Deadpool on Instagram. He invited followers to cast their votes on social media for the person they thought would win.
The heavyweight boxer had already made repeated jokes about wanting to face the Hollywood actor in a fight, and the picture featured the badges of both Wrexham and Morecambe. When asked whether he planned to watch the match between the two teams, Fury responded, “Yeah, I’m going to call out Ryan Reynolds.”
On February 17, Fury will fight Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia in an effort to defend his undefeated record against the man who defeated Anthony Joshua twice. The Mancunian told reporters earlier this month, “‘Usyk has done everything he could possibly do so I have to respect him,'” with apparent mutual respect between the two.
