Jonas Wind from Wolfsburg is now a target for Nottingham Forest to sign when the January transfer window reopens. With their growing list of injuries, the Reds will look to acquire a striker as soon as possible.

The news last week that Taiwo Awoniyi would be sidelined for three to four months dealt a serious blow to Forest.

Wind is currently a target for Forest, as the player is having a strong 2023–2024 Bundesliga campaign.

In January, Forest is eager to sign Wind.

Only Serhou Guirassy and Harry Kane surpass the 24-year-old in the Bundesliga goalscoring standings this year.

In his 14 appearances across all competitions, he has tallied 10 goals and claimed three assists. He is a player who is currently in excellent form.

In Germany, Wind is already relishing his most prosperous campaign to date. International clubs are now showing interest, with Forest among them, according to Football Insider.

The player’s deal with Wolfsburg expires in 2026. It would be unlikely for Forest to find Wind an inexpensive way to bolster their attacking ranks as a result.

Forest is in desperate need of a striker.

Chris Wood, who has scored three goals this season, made his Reds debut on Saturday against Brighton. When Divock Origi entered the game, he hasn’t looked up to scratch yet. With his strong start to the season, Wind will infuse the Forest attacking group with quality and confidence. The 24-year-old, a Danish international, has scored seven goals in international competitions.

Nico Kovac is a fan of the Wind connected to the Forest. When asked about the player’s form at the moment, he described him as “very motivated” and “really good.”

Squawka provides a clue as to Wind’s style as a player. He defeats Awoniyi in more aerial duels, so maybe he could fill in for him while he’s hurt.

Rumour score: 8 out of 10. To replace Awoniyi, Forest should target a striker similar to this one.

At just 24 years old, Wind is a player who perfectly embodies George Syrianos’ philosophy when it comes to signing players. It remains to be seen if Forest can force him to leave the Bundesliga. If they do, though, they might be adding a very astute player to the team.
