Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa is proving to be one of the transfer window’s biggest stories.

The four teams fighting for the Premier League championship are interested in signing the 25-year-old midfielder: Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Unai Emery’s team want to keep him on until the end of the current campaign.

Villa has a solid foundation to keep the Brazil international since they are flying under the Spaniard and are currently fourth in the standings. But what would be the best course of action for his career?

The data analytics company SciSports’ career advice tool provides a very clear answer as to what Douglas Luiz should do given the options that are given to him.

All are appealing choices, with solid plans and reputable managers, but which team is the best fit for him? The four teams are ranked from worst to best as shown below.

SciSports believes that Douglas Luiz’s best option is not to stay at his current club because Emery’s style of play does not allow him to play to the best of his abilities. In terms of how his game is developed and formed, however, the Birmingham club ranks highly.

2. City of Manchester

The second of these four options is a return to Man City, where he played for two seasons after joining from Vasco da Gama for €12 million. But there are worries that he would just get lost at the Champions League winners, with Pep Guardiola’s lineup and insufficient playing time being major issues.

First Arsenal

With a Club Fit score of 84, Arsenal leads the pack and can provide Douglas Luiz with everything he needs, from playing time in a style that fits his game to developmental opportunities.

SciSports, on the other hand, claims that Bayern Munich, who have been looking for a midfield player but will undoubtedly only join the transfer market next season, is the ideal team for Douglas Luiz.
