The owner of Oldham, who is 73 years old, received a sizable welcome gift from Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as he gets ready to row across the Atlantic alone.

Before Rothwell sets sail from the Canary Islands to Antigua next month in an attempt to break his own record for finishing the challenge as the oldest man, the Hollywood actors contributed $2,000 (£1,600) to his fundraising campaign. To date, Rothwell has raised £62,643 for the “Frank Rothwell’s World’s Toughest Row Atlantic Challenge 2023.” A cause near and dear to Rothwell’s heart, Alzheimer’s Research UK, is the beneficiary of the charitable row.

Reynolds gave the gift with the inspirational words, “Go get ’em, Frank.” He even wished him a “safe journey” on social media before the audacious mission!
ROTHWELL’S COMMENTS ABOUT HIS JOURNEY
Rothwell, who had open heart surgery in 2022, talked about his resolve to fight dementia after losing loved ones to the illness.
He stated, “I’m not afraid of anything except getting dementia,” when discussing his journey. I’ve witnessed the heartache it brings. Regretfully, I lost my brother-in-law Roger to dementia during my 2020 race, and my best friend passed away a few months ago.

On December 12, Rothwell will set out on his expedition from the Canaries, an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Macaronesia. In an effort to keep his supporters informed of his progress, the rower has committed to posting updates about his journey on social media whenever feasible. In the meantime, Phil Parkinson’s team will play Yeovil Town again in the FA Cup on Sunday.
