NFL player Travis Kelce, who is also Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, was caught up by Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney to discuss football.

Consequently, what happened?
With the takeover of Wrexham by Hollywood pair McElhenney and Reynolds in 2021, sightings of celebrities have become the norm. Celebrities such as Hugh Jackman, Will Ferrell, and Paul Rudd have been spotted cheering on the Welsh team, and more A-listers may soon follow suit as McElhenney has been discussing his team with NFL players Travis and Jason Kelce on their New Heights podcast.

MCELHENNEY’S QUOTES
Travis’s curiosity about cup competitions piqued, allowing McElhenney to share his experiences with Wrexham following his takeover.

That’s an intriguing aspect of the game. While some people are extremely concerned, others are not at all. You have fan bases that are a little bit divided,” he said. “I think it’s a win-win situation because, if you progress and win more throughout the competition, people are happy for you, and, if you lose, no one seems to be concerned.

“In fact, we watched the Wrexham game in the parking lot with the tailgate prior to the game last year when we won the NFC championship, and we drew that game against a team that was three leagues higher than us.

“I’ve been correcting people when they use the word’soccer’ instead of ‘football,’ and it’s getting to be so annoying. All they want to do is slap me.

THE LARGER IMAGE
McElhenney’s other passion is the Philadelphia Eagles, and last month he went to watch the NFL star play with The Chiefs against the New York Jets alongside Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Is Swift now likely to make his way to Wrexham? Kelce gave off the impression that McElhenney was serious about Wrexham. You’re all in, though, and I adore it. You can tell if you’re acting appropriately in this way. “Baby, you’re all in,” he exclaimed.

Swift’s performances at Wrexham’s stadium are highly anticipated by Reynolds and McElhenney, who hosted two shows by the Kings of Leon last summer.

FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
When Wrexham returns to action this weekend at the SToK Racecourse against National League South side Yeovil Town, they’ll be looking to advance to the FA Cup’s third round. Last season, the Welsh team advanced to the fourth round before losing to Sheffield United in a replay.
