A former captain and fan favourite of Celtic may be heading to the Premier League.

Kieran Tierney, the former captain of Celtic, might be moving. He is currently in La Liga on loan at Real Sociedad, but the Spanish team is eager to extend the agreement, per a FootballTransfers report.

The 26-year-old is being eyed by a number of people besides just them. He is also being pursued by Aston Villa, as Unai Emery is reportedly not happy with Lucas Digne’s left-back play.

And Emery clearly has a soft spot for Tierney. During his disastrous time at Arsenal, he took him to the Emirates Stadium and made an attempt to sign him during the summer transfer window.

Furthermore, despite the abundance of defensive talent the Gunners possess, Mikel Arteta is rumoured to be a huge fan of Tierney and does not want to part ways with him. Tierney’s football career is currently in jeopardy.

How would Celtic be affected by this?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem likely at this point, despite the fact that many Celtic supporters are probably begging for the Scottish international to return to Glasgow. Given the prominence of the Celtics in world football right now, it would be difficult to compete with any of the numerous prominent clubs vying for his signature.

That doesn’t mean a move won’t be beneficial, though. A 15% sell-on clause was added to Tierney’s contract when Celtic sold him to Arsenal; if he moves, they will get 15% of the sale price.

How much Arsenal will allow him to leave the team is currently unknown. Even so, Mikel Arteta thinks highly of him, so it’s safe to assume the Gunners won’t allow him to leave the team without paying a sizable sum.
