According to a recent report, Nottingham Forest is preparing a January raid to sign a new striker who is currently playing football abroad.

Steve Cooper has limited options for a striker.

Divock Origi, Chris Wood, and Taiwo Awoniyi are currently the Reds’ natural center-forward options, so they shouldn’t need to go out and acquire more players, but the former has recently suffered a serious setback.

Awoniyi suffered a severe groyne injury during the international break. After having surgery right away to address the issue, Steve Cooper will now need to find a suitable replacement because his striker will likely be out for several months.

The manager of City Ground is now focusing on Jonas Wind of Wolfsburg, who joined the team in January 2022 after leaving FC Copenhagen and has played in 54 games overall (Transfermarkt – Wind statistics).

With a match rating of 7.41 (WhoScored – Wolfsburg statistics), the Denmark international has solidly established himself as Niko Kovac’s all-around best-performing player thus far this season. The 24-year-old’s remarkable form has drawn attention in the Midlands.

Wind is not the only player the board is thinking about bringing to the Premier League in January, but Football Insider reports that Nottingham Forest is interested in signing him when the new year gets underway.

“Sources have told Football Insider that Nottingham Forest is focused on acquiring Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind before the January transfer window opens. The 24-year-old is reportedly one of several candidates under consideration as the new year draws near.”

Wind might be a “great talent” for Cooper.
Wind has demonstrated his prolificism in the final third by recording 13 contributions (ten goals and three assists) in 14 appearances across all competitions this season. Therefore, it would undoubtedly be a coup if he signed a contract with Nottingham Forest.

Hvidovre’s native, who is 6 feet 2 inches tall, has taken 32 shots this season, more than any of his teammates (FBRef – Wolfsburg statistics). This shows that he is constantly motivated to put the ball in the back of the opposition’s net, even though it doesn’t always happen.

Kovac’s talisman is an experienced player who has competed for his club in the Europa League and represented his nation in competitions such as the World Cup and the Euros. He understands what it takes to succeed at the highest levels and accomplish great things.

Football scout Jacek Kulig called Wind a “great talent,” and given all of his positive traits and the impact he could have under Cooper, this is an obvious deal to pursue should the right opportunity arise in January.
