In an attempt to maintain their campaign for promotion from League Two, Wrexham is preparing to make a major acquisition.

Following Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s spectacular acquisition of Wrexham, the team has gone on an incredible journey that has seen them move up from the National League to League 2.

Wrexham’s A-list owners are totally devoted to ensuring that the team plays to the expectations of the supporters, as has been evident from the outside. Last season, the Welsh team made headlines when they signed former Premier League custodian Ben Foster, who was instrumental in earning promotion by saving a late penalty against Notts County.

The 40-year-old Foster retired due to his poor play at the beginning of this season, but Wrexham will not be short on former Premier League players, since Billy Sharp has lately shown interest in the team.

The Wrexham management is reportedly prepared to smash their transfer record in order to acquire a League Two player, so they aren’t just scanning the divisions for possible additions.

Their most recent transfer record was for £300,000 to get Ollie Palmer when the team was in the National League, and more recently, they paid £250,000 to acquire James McClean, a former Premier League star.

The League 2 team is now expected to make a major move once more when they prepare to pursue Saidou Khan of Swindon Town.

The 27-year-old midfielder would provide Wrexham with another dynamic in the middle of the park. He has one goal and three assists in League Two thus far.

The Gambian international may be headed to North Wales for the second half of the season once the transfer window opens, according to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider.

Even though he only has six months left on his deal, Wrexham is likely to need to spend about £350,000 to make the transfer happen.

Although Phil Parkinson, the manager of Wrexham, is said to be a big fan of Khan, the midfielder’s availability may be a deciding factor.

Regardless of the team he plays for, Khan appears to be a lock for Ghana’s spot in the African Cup of Nations, which would cause him to miss the majority of 2024’s start.
