Owners of Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have been informed that more work needs to be done if they are to advance up the leagues.
Consequently, what happened?
Brett Ormerod, who played for the team during more difficult times and spent two seasons at the Racecourse Ground after signing in 2012, made that opinion. Ormerod thinks the current team has what it takes to compete in League One, but more money would be needed to advance.
THOUGH ORMEROD SAID
Ormerod told Stocklytics, “Phil Parkinson has a certain style of play.” “He has performed admirably for several clubs, Bradford among them. There is a particular lineage to him. Based on my initial observations, Wrexham appears to be a formidable club comprised of talented football players. We’ll find out how far they can go in time. They should get promoted this season, in my opinion. They will undoubtedly be close to the top.
When compared to divisions like the National League, League Two is arguably the easiest to escape. Phil’s current team is unquestionably competitive enough for League One. I’m not convinced if the current squad is competitive enough to win the championship.
THE LARGER IMAGE
Ormerod, who played Premier League football for Southampton and Blackpool throughout a career spanning multiple divisions before concluding an 18-year professional career at Wrexham in a totally different age, is one of the people who best understands the ins and outs of English football’s various levels.
The supporters have suffered a great deal, therefore I wish them all the best. I was there when they were being threatened with having their bills kicked out of the ground because they weren’t getting paid.
FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
If enough progress is made, Ormerod sees Wrexham entering either the Championship or the Premier League over the next five years. There are four promotion slots available from League Two, so this season is a great chance to maintain the momentum.
