Djed Spence has an unforeseen battle to win a spot in Daniel Farke’s Leeds United team.

The right-back played for Leeds for just nine minutes before suffering a knee injury that kept him out of the game. For the first time since August, he made his matchday squad comeback midweek, but the 23-year-old did not play a role in the victories against Middlesbrough and Swansea.

Because of Jamie Schackleton’s injury and the Tottenham Hotspur loanee’s absence, Archie Grey was able to take on a new role. Since Spence was considered by many to be the best right-back in the Championship two seasons prior, the teenager was perceived as a stand-in.

But the 17-year-old Grey showed he is settling into his new role in the victory over Middlesbrough, as he made many offensive runs that forced the opposition back and helped Cysencio Summerville score. Following the victory at Elland Road, Gray’s play was praised by Neil Redfearn, the former Leeds manager.

“He just exudes calmness. Additionally, Redfearn told BBC Radio Leeds, “when he’s receiving it, he knows what’s around him.” He simply dipped his shoulder a lot of the time to elude opponents. I made some crucial passes, helped with the second goal, and played a wonderful pass.

It goes without saying that he will become a midfield player in the future. However, you wouldn’t think so right now. He appears to be a seasoned right back. He also plays there with ease. He seemed so good to me today.

Spence will probably have an opportunity to make an impression as Leeds manages their hectic schedule in December. That might not turn out to be the smooth comeback to the squad, though, as Farke has already stated that Spence needs to keep proving himself in the weight room.

Following the victory over Swansea, the Leeds manager stated, “Today we got the feeling he deserves already to be in the squad because the last days and training he was quite on it and it was quite impressive for that we decided to have Djed as an option also with us.”

We don’t need to discuss his potential or quality because he has demonstrated it at this level of fitness if he works with such concentration and focus, particularly on this level. However, if you work on it further, you will be more focused and focused in your daily training as well as gain an increasing amount of rhythm. Yes, there will be plenty of opportunities to participate in game time in the following weeks.
