Until the January transfer window, Philippe Clement will have to settle for what he has, and the most recent news regarding Nicolas Raskin, a midfielder for Rangers, will not be pleasant.

Speaking following a convincing 2-0 victory over St Mirren, the manager of the Gers acknowledged that it might take some time before his countryman appears in his starting lineup.

Rangers supporters are witnessing what might be the first-choice selection for the upcoming run of games as Philippe Clement has been forced to shift his pack in the engine room due to Nicolas Raskin’s absence.

Rangers know how to handle Nicolas Raskin’s absence.
Raskin has been a mainstay on the first team since coming a year ago, but the new Gers coach hasn’t had much opportunity to use him.

At the time, the injury sustained in the thrilling 2-1 victory over Hearts appeared serious, but a conservative treatment plan doesn’t seem to be helping. In response to a query about the 22-year-old, Clement stated via RTV:

“Next week, Nico will have another evaluation because his recovery is not progressing as planned. While I regret this, it is the situation that it is. We must come up with answers.

With the exception of the obvious injuries, it is usual practise to attempt conservatively to rehabilitate most injuries without resorting to surgery; nevertheless, it appears that this option has already been exhausted.

With Ryan Jack sidelined as well and Jose Cifuentes failing to produce the kind of play that made him a £6 million target for several Premier League teams, Rangers’ midfield depth is currently lacking. The absence of Nicolas Raskin has been felt greatly.

However, it appears that Clement might have found the ideal answer when facing St Mirren.

Having a player like Tom Lawrence next to John Lundstram could help make up for Nicolas Raskin’s departure at Ibrox, where Rangers dominate possession.

Lawrence is calm when handling the ball and also presents a greater offensive threat.

Raskin was once a vital member of the team, but when he returns, he will have to work hard to regain his position, regardless of how long it would take.
